choose again which applications you want to restore on your new
PC.

without being altered.
|
|
Will all my
programs from my old PC work on my new PC?
|
|
Answer: 80%-90%
of todays programs, including most system service related
programs, will work. However; some programs will not work on the new
PC. Here are some reasons that can cause programs to malfunction on
the new computer after transfer:
The program needs
updated drivers. Some programs may need a new driver to
work with new hardware and operating system. You need to install the
required driver on your new PC after the migration, but in some
cases this could cause the program to fail and you will need to
reinstall the program manually.
The program is
incompatible with the new operating system. If you have a
newer operating system on your new computer, each program that is
restored to the new computer must be compatible with the new
operating system. Programs that are incompatible with the operating
system will not run whether they are installed from scratch or
transferred with a transfer software such as SoftRescue Pro.
Hardware dependent programs i.e. specific
motherboard programs like Asus® Updater. If you have a
hardware dependent program on your old computer you must
install the hardware on the new system and then manually
install the program on your new computer. Dual boot solution on the
same harddrive. SoftRescue Pro does not support transfer to a new
computer with dual boot solution installed on the same hard dive.
You will need to either set up dual boot on two separate hard
drives, or remove the dual boot solution and run a single operating
system before you can restore applications.

|
|
Do I need a
special cable?
|
|

compatible storage media, even onto a file server in your network.

applications, that you want to transfer.

Why doesn't my Adobe programs work after
restore?
|
|
Answer: Due to the Adobe licensing
service, you have to release your old license on your old computer
before using it on the new computer. This is because Adobe® uses an
online solution, which checks if your license is used to more then
one computer.
This is done by opening
your Adobe® product on your old computer. Then open a new
document/image/project, and go to the Help menu. Push Deactivate and
follow on screen instructions from Adobe®

What are
Dependent Applications?
|
|
Answer:
These are applications that
will not work alone. They are dependent on each other to run.
Example: iTunes need QuickTime® to
run.
If
SoftRescue discover a dependent application, it will automatically
select them for you. Do not deselect these applications. The main
application will not work on your target computer if you
do.
